Simplify Your Life - Week 3 - Family Mission Statement

Short and sweet this week...  A mission statement for me and a mission statement for our family:

My Mission Statement

To live a life that I am proud of, a life of integrity and adventure. To learn a little every day and to better myself continually. Each day I strive to be the best mother, friend, realtor, and wife that I can be.

Our Family Mission Statement

As a family, we are supportive and flexible during this year of huge change. We spend quality time together and are patient & fair.  We love to travel together and enjoy each day we have together.

Simplify Your Life - Week 2 - Values

Tough subject.  I've always gotten a really good start on figuring out my values but I've never truly gotten to the point of breaking it down to 5 and then ranking them.  Pretty impressed I got it done for this week.  Let me just say, I started with 28 values and had to narrow them down A LOT.

My Original List
There are so many words that I connect to and would like to live up to that it's kind of overwhelming.  I really do need to simplify and quit being a do everything, read everything, try everything person because it's hard to be 100% when you are spread so far out.  I did finally manage to break these down and to rank them, so here I go.

-1-
My husband, my daughter and the twinkle in my eye are my world.  We have been through some seriously rough patches in the last 8 years, but I feel like 2012 is going to be the best year of our lives.  We are so fortunate to have each other.

-2-

I am wildly creative and want to create more art in 2012 than ever before.  I am working to create an Arts & Crafts group that can get together at minimum once a month and I am so excited!  I'm also finishing up The Sketchbook Project which has totally taken me outside my comfort zone.  I painted some really awesome stuff in 2011 and I just want to do way more this year.  I have a ton of potential and I enjoy painting and crafting more than anything.

-3-

I have gone through ups and downs with friends. When I was younger and making awful choices all together, my friends were certainly not what I needed. They were the kind of friends that really could care less about you.  I'm glad to say that I no longer have most of them in my life.  I am also fortunate that a few of us have stayed close and it's amazing to have them in my life to this day. We all made mistakes but some of us have grown up and became great people, and others...not so much.  Enough with the past!  The people I have been getting close with in the last few years are people that I hope to have in my life forever.  I couldn't ask to have met more awesome friends and I cannot wait to see how our friendships flourish.

-4-

I have a lot of growing that I want to do in 2012... Personal, professional and in my marriage.  There are so many things that I'd like to get better at and improve.  I feel like I have HUGE potential and I'm the only thing standing in my way.

-5-

This will be a year of HUGE change and I'm excited!  We are building a new house that should be done in March or April.  We are hoping to be pregnant soon.  Our daughter will be changing schools.  We are still adjusting to 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off of work for my husband. There's just a ton of exciting stuff coming soon and I can barely wait!

I think starting this blog and connecting with others through this process is going to be a wonderful outlet for me this year and I could use a huge support system as our lives continue to get infinitely better, but also just a little bit more complicated.

Bring it on 2012!
